stop these petty games man u have a top 4 defense a top 2 wingers and the top strikers IMHO -- where we beat them hands down in Central Midfield Man U are never out of a game as they can score goals and goals win you games - what we used to do is keep clean sheets Perspective required here

So whats changed in the last decade ? Under Evans, poor defense, good possession play, good forwards but often the team lacked the ability/creativity to score, ie despite the forwards the team lacked a cutting edge and would often paint pretty pictures with their passing but produced few goals from it Under Houllier - good defense, poorer possession play, could only score on the counter attack, ie lacked the ability/creativity to break down teams, a cutting edge if you like Under Rafa good defense, good possession play, but cant score ie lack the ability/creativity to break down teams, a cutting edge if you like I think the last time we could break down teams through creative play was during the times of Kenny and Barnes

that and the RW issue are the main problems - maybe thats why we roped fowler in

Foo - I think Pennants performance against Arsenal is quite enlightening as it wasnt one of his best and he still was effective, we'll be playing Arsenal pretty soon and then we can see how effective we are Bottom line is Arsenal are moving up the table and we really need to put some daylight between ourselves and the other contenders

Simao's price will not come down to our valuation of 8-10m so Simao is out of reach, with Madrid making moves on Alves, there goes another one this leaves Victor, Queresima and Pennant as top options IMHO Pennant would probably be the cheaper of the 3 and comes with premiership experience

Hope your mate is right too, oddly enough I think the display of loyalty my Pennant in wanting to repay Steve Bruce shows an increasing maturity and has raised his stock in my eyes I know we need him now, but the extra 6 month wait could be a good thing, in that it will allay fears regarding his drinking and demonstrate if he can do it over a full season If Anderson is ready to play a bit part next season then Pennant and Anderson could go a long way to solving the RW problem and allow us to spend more money on getting the right strikers Looking forward to Pennant arriving in the summer

well the same can be said of Crouchy, so maybe working hard etc means not scoring

Le Tallecs performances have been better of late. The thing is Le Tallec plays better alonside a pacey striker still it would have been better had Le Tallec and Mellor both turned out and scored for Wigan

I'm just being as hard on him as the forum is being on Cisse to be honest I would love Mellor to do well at Liverpool far cheaper than Owen and a good potential replacement for Morientes

He'll only play for us regularly if he improves his movement and ball retention there is no doubting his goal scoring ability though

Cisse made 2 mistakes last night and will be sloughtered for them 1 missed the penalty 2 heavy touch on a great ball by Gerrard ( i think) while pongo on a similar ball scored All in all the whole team regressed last night and I wouldnt just single out Cisse - I could be kind and say the way he occupied the LB allowed pongolle the space for his goals
