  1. they bring it out on 'special occasions' apparently. pathetic. sunday confirmed my worst fears for the game. wretched place.
  2. aye, we had the chances to win but we did not take them. It was only very late in the day that the team seemed to sense that the game was ours for the taking. There were many positives yesterday, we kept Shevchenko quiet for a start, but from the first whistle to the last I fely our main wekness was a lack of absolute conviction that we could beat chelsea on their home patch. Just my opinion but for me the captains body language betrayed that lack of conviction for large chunks of the first hour.
  3. agree. to win the league we need a bunch of players that truly believe we can win it and yesterday was proof enough that we don't have that. not by a long way. the lack of purpose and genuine belief displayed yesterday is far more worrying than our results.

  9. I think it's a big problem. On the one hand I am glad that (whatever the eventual outcome) the club does it's business discreetly, but when the only information in the public domain is so clearly loaded it is difficult for fans to draw any conclusions. Hence, I think it is only natural that (some, perhaps a lot of) fans are a little edgy about the whole financial situation at the moment. We want the club to succeed on all levels and it feels like we are in an interminable period of injury time with the outcome still far from certain...

    Alves

as has been stated many times, a player is 'worth' what a club will pay for him. there is no index of value in the system.
  14. some desperate hope that the other results would suit them and they might still squeeze through? Bizzare it was though...but I don't know enough about their, ahem, sporting rivalry to know whether the Poles would have greeted a draw with rapture and gone home happy...?
  15. exactly. as I said before I really can't make up my mind about Torres and so am far less concerned about this than if they were (as they should be) concentrating all their resources on 2 centre mids of indubitable quality.

  19. I still think that our best 11 under rafa against the top opposition may play 4-2-3-1 reina finnan-carra-hyppia-riise alonso-momo new 'rw'-gerrard-kewell new striker
  20. damnation, shevchenko is a player I have admired for a long time. I will now have to reassess. he will be devastating in that team. it really does seem like second place is all anyone else can hope for in the near future. a blight on the game they are.

    David Mannix

he's had some rotten luck. supposed to have been a real propect, but wasn't he out for the best part of 3 years?
  24. of course, a sound idea
  25. aside from the bullsh1t and innacurate comments about Hillsborough the author has actually dared to tarnish a whole citys population as psychologically flawed: ".......an excessive predilection for welfarism have created a peculiar, and deeply unattractive, psyche among many Liverpudlians. They see themselves whenever possible as victims, and resent their victim status; yet at the same time they wallow in it. Part of this flawed psychological state is that they cannot accept that they might have made any contribution to their misfortunes, but seek rather to blame someone else for it, thereby deepening their sense of shared tribal grievance against the rest of society." I have read some s*** in my time but this is actually shocking.
