He was incredible, picking passes at will he wanted to make and more or less every 1 came off, could've played with his eyes closed and still made those passes. A beautiful player to watch. Very intelligent player also.
Wasn't sure about him at the start in the 6 but he's arguably been our best player in 2024 and some credit has to go to Endo for freeing him up.
Can't say I'm too gutted to learn it's not gonna be Xabi as I've convinced myself pretty much ever since Klopp made his announcement that whoever we get we'll be in steady hands.
Whether it be Nagelsmann, Zidane, Emery, RDZ, Amorim or whoever else.
Mmh, it’s debatable. Maybe we’ll have some luck getting some mid table Prem or German club to take him then.
Another game where the kids upstaged the lad. You do know we also won cups with Takumi don’t you? We’ve reached a point where fans are being vocal in their cries to see Danns ahead of him, a 40m signing. An 18 year old that was once a ballboy. That’s where we’re at.
Right....
Just like it's "mad to think" the guy wasn't even a Klopp signing. He doesn't fancy him hence why he's 5th choice.
Whoever the new manager will be won't hesitate to get rid.
I actually still regret never getting behind the likes of Balotelli and Benteke but anyways. All in the past now.
You might not like it but that's how it works in this day and age I'm afraid, fans will only grow more and more impatient.
& performances like yesterday won't help.
Meh, minds made up now and a lot of other fans have come before me and written him off sooner than yesterday but I've seen enough after what's been over a year now and there hasn't been any development in his game, I don't see where he excels and he struggles to stamp his authority on games. Upstaged by kids against Southampton, I mean come on.
Onus is on him to get the fans off his back.
I still can't fathom how we went from totally controlling the game from minute 45-87, Utd not having a sniff at goal and looking completely drained to scoring 3 goals in the next 41mins (inc stoppage and extra time).
Unforgiveable.
Quad now gone all because we couldn't game manage an extra few mins.
How the f*** does Antony even get a shot away there, we had half the f***ing team surrounding the c***.
Rather have kept Origi, or Minamino for that matter than sign this guy.
Origi at least popped up in vital games and Minamino was basically what Gakpo is, only costing 5x less.
I’d have you ahead of Gakpo.
Bradley actually did ok against Garnacho, they got the ball out to him a lot and it was a good battle to watch. Also did remarkably well for Harvey’s goal.
Nunez practically had 2 assista to his name but yes otherwise anonymous. Well observed.
Agree on Konate. Massively missed. Ali too of course.
We got what we deserved for messing around 2nd half and playing like balloon heads in the final third. When Salah wants to be poor, boy can he be poor. Utd did f*** all 2nd half until a few lucky bounces falls to Antony and next thing you know the ball is in our net but that's the price you pay for dilly daddling around like children.
Strange subs too, Harvey and Bradley for Robbo and Szobo completely ruined the flow. Gomez was on a yellow and Robbo was playing far better, why not just leave him on? Then bringing on Gakpo meant we played the whole of ET with 10 men.
They're very much in the same league for me in the sense that neither are good enough for this style of play.
Not even sure Gakpo could go to Villa and score the goals Benteke did there so I'm not too sure there's much difference at all, they both sucked for us and that's the end of it.
He just isn't what we need for this style of football to work.
Pray someone comes in with some sort of offer in summer and we can cut our losses.
If you know what to do with the money then it doesn't always equate to weakening the squad does it? Like Coutinho. We sold Benteke very quickly after he wasn't cut out for our style, I see no different with Gakpo.
