Liverpool vs. Brighton - Saturday 30 October 2021 - 3pm

If you watch the Utd game again he still misplaced loads of easy passes and missed a sitter as well as going for the wrong option when he has overlapping players. I want our original Bobby back.... -

Hopefully, Jones will have more space and time against Atletico. He can't be that bad again. I'd also like to see Firmino place a pass. Whatever he eating or dinking, he'd better stop it now. It's like he's been voodooed or the Aliens have done a Paul McCartney on him. -

I'm still basking in the warmth of the drubbing we gave the Mancs so this result really didn't surprise me. Play the same against the Dark Side of Simeone and we will receive a real pasting. -

Ox's final pass has three results - all of them straight to an opposing player. He got an assist today and was so surprised that he decided to rest on his laurels for the rest of the match. Jones was truly abysmal. He looked scared at the thought of receiving the ball and when he did get it, rarely knew what to do with it. Virgil gave him a a real b******ing in the first half for getting caught in possession trying to be twinkletoes - that must have affected his confidence because he was lost until taken off. -

Sevilla V Barcelona's second team Sanchez Pijuan 21.30 CET Sevilla XI from: PALOP, KONKO - SQUILLACI - (FAZIO) - ESCUDÉ - DABO, NAVAS - ZOKORA - RENATO (CIGARINI) - (ROMARIC) - (ALFARO) - PEROTTI (CAPEL), NEGREDO - KANOUTE - LUIS FABIANO In what may possibly be Luis Fabiano's last game for Sevilla, (playing in the CL qualifier against Braga next week will cup-tie him for any potential buyer - Madrid and Marseilles are the prime candidates) the Brasilian will be looking to impress. The pre-season has placed the player every Sevilla fan loves to hate, Alvaro Negredo, as the top scorer with six goals. Negredo has a lot to prove after a very disappointing first season in which his proven goal scoring ability was overshadowed by his infuriating habit of getting himself sent off and his frank admission that he wasn't really trying because he didn't get on with the then coach Manolo Jimenez. With a price tag of 14 million euros and that fact that he is Sevilla's most expensive signing Negredo knows that he has to shine this season and tonight will probably be a perfect opportunity to start on a high note. Negredo's partner up front during most of the pre-season Frederic Kanoute has shown signs of past form, for example, the sublime penalty against Espanyol in the Trofeo Ramon de Caranza - but has spent more time playing deep and being caught in possession much to the annoyance of his team mates and technical staff. Starting this season as he finished the last, Jesus Navas is the most on-form player in the squad despite the fact that he has just returned from extended holidays after his World Cup success. Sevilla's coach, Antonio Alvarez, has stated that Navas has come back "in even better form than before he left". Another player who has found his stride in the pre-season is Diego Perotti who will probably keep Diego Capel out of the starting XI, Perotti was closely followed by Real Madrid, but interest from the capital waned once the Argentinian declared that he wanted to stay at Sevilla. If Capel does start or get some minutes off the bench then it will be no surprise if he finds the back of the net, the blond winger from Almeria has scored in three of Sevilla's last four matches against Barcelona. Of the new signings this year, Dabo is the most likely to play a part in tonight's proceedings. The Italian midfielder Cigarini will probably have to wait until La Liga begins, altough Alvarez has said that if he is fit enough he will get some minutes either in the first or second leg of the Supercup. Tiberio Guarente is injured and will be out for a month. Barcelona XI from: RUBÉN MIÑO (VALDES) - MAXWELL - MILITO - BARTRA(ALVES) - ADRIANO, DOS SANTOS - THIAGO - KEITA - JEFFREN, - IBRAHIMOVIC - BOJAN (MESSI)- ABIDAL - NOLITO - SERGI ROBERTO - SERGI GOMEZ -MUNIESA ORIOL ROMEU Guardiola has stated that he has "complete faith" in the second string players that he has called up to replace the missing Spanish WC internationals. The 'fantastic seven' have had less time to train and get back into shape after a hectic month of celebrations and an ill-timed friendly against Mexico in the Azteca last week which saw Guardiola rant and rave against the Spanish coach Vincente Del Bosque for picking all the Barca players. Hardly Del Bosque's fault when the contract that the Spanish FA signed for the friendly specifically guaranteed the presence, injuries permitting, of the world cup winning players. Iniesta is still not fit enough to be considered and it will be interesting to see how Barca cope without the midfield machine room of Xavi and Iniesta. Guardiola has also lost the Mexican central defender Marquez to US 'soccer' and will have to form an largely untried back line hoping that the experience of Milito will see the youngsters through. Guardiola has also declared that he will not be using any of the WC players, but Spanish football pundits have said that if things look bleak Messi may well have to come off the bench to try to save the situation. Barca's coach has also told the press to lay off Ibrahimovic and to end speculation about the Swede. Sevilla's defence has been prone to the odd error this preseason but the wingers have shown the way and if Navas and Perotti play to form then goals will arrive. Barca's second squad will have things to prove and they have enough quality in certain players to make life difficult for the home side. Sevilla need a winning margin of two or more goals to be able to go to the Camp Nou and have a chance of getting a result in the return leg against what undoubtedly will be a full-strength Barca.

Saw the second half of the Ingerlund game on the laptop and then instead of switching the damn thing off I saw the news on ITV. They did a link to some d++ck journo outside Wembley having a go at Capello for getting rid of Beckham - the journo called Beckham "our national treasure" WTF? A normal player with a decent right foot and a horrible wife, a player who has never won anything for his national side in 115 games. A vaunted dead ball specialist whose massive tally of 17 goals in said 115 matches makes him a "national treasure"? Have people in the UK gone mad?

It still hurts - more than ever. I've had hundreds of Spanish friends and clients, even people I don't really know, tell me that they are really sorry we lost and that we played Milan off the pitch. The last time I felt this bad was the FA cup final against the Mancs in 1977. At least that was offset by the fact that we had Rome. This time there's nothing. There's this feeling of having a pit in my stomach that I can't get rid off. I haven't seen any of the news and I certainly won't be watching the video of the game - not for a few months at least. Roll on next season - let's trounce the mancs and co. and get to the final in Moscow.

In his usual back page columns in Marca. Sorry about the dealy but I've been getting sloshed in a Communion. Valdano stated that although he remains firm in his principles his use of metaphor was "unfortunate". He apologised to Rafa Benítez and to the institution that is LFC.
