I completely disagree with this comment....it is like saying what's the point of non league teams playing the FA cup as it will always be the top teams playing in the semi's and the final! Also need I remind you of South Korea's achievement in 2002. Cameroon in 1990. Morocco in 1986. Algeria beating the might of Germany in 1982. Peru making it to the later stages of 1978. I am not saying that Bahrain are better than France or the Rep of Ireland, but on their day, they could beat them in a world cup match which is part of the appeal (again, remember, Senegal versus France in 2002 and Cameroon vs Argentina in 1990).

I have the same feeling. Unknown stadiums, atmosphere, continent, climate etc etc, will all be a major factor. I will be surprised if a European team actually won the world cup this time! My money is on Brazil. Ghana and Japan to do really well in this world cup, and being from the middle east, I would love for Bahrain to do well (if they qualify!)

Always liked Essien as a player. Would have been great to have him in our midfield (and I would have lived with his dirty tackles and may be just re-branded them as passionate and manly!)

I adopted the same approach as you and decided not to post and just wait and calm down and let the depression clears. I can't believe the reaction in the media at the moment. 60% think Rafa should go! Despite the fact that as you say a situation that 2 wins will amend! We have been poor recently, we have lacked creativity in midfield, but we have also been unlucky and key players have suffered bad form at the wrong time. It is time to get behind the team. I am really hopeful that will bounce back on Sunday despite the injuries. But even if we lose, IMO Rafa is still the best man for the job.
