The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Reds today after successfully completing a medical in London. Benteke has built a reputation as one of the Barclays Premier League's most clinical forwards since joining Villa from Genk in 2012, having scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for the Midlands side. During that time he has also become a regular fixture for the Belgium national team and has netted seven goals in 24 outings for his country. Really? I think he's somewhat limited but fantastic at what he's good at and a great asset to have in the squad in many situations. We don't have anyone with his traits in midfield either.

Sorry for quoting myself. Forgot about Origi, looks like we might be done shopping for forwards. One up front with Firmino and Coutinho behind him would be my guess. A lot depends on what kind of losses we are ready to take on them. Someone like Lambert might be easier to sell than Balotelli for example. I wouldn't be too surprised if Mario stays actually simply because no one would want him except on loan where we end up paying something ludicrous like half his wages.

They've got some nasty centrehalves in Brazil and Germany as well. Signing Ings and Firmino makes me think that we're done shopping for forwards this summer unless we dump Borini, Balotelli and Lambert. Be interesting to see how it progresses.
