If Wijnaldum doesn't want to sign the new contract we should try and do a straight swap for Thiago. Similar ages and contract situations and both possibly want a new challenge.

It will be very difficult to improve on the first 11. So then you need to look at improving the squad. We can probably improve on the squad by spending a lot of money, but it could be to the detriment of promising kids. Do Man City and Chelsea regret letting Sancho and De Bruyne go at a young age without giving them a chance? Probably not to the same extent we would as they have richer owners. As far as I can tell we have at least 4 youngsters who probably deserve a squad space and would probably not be any worse than say Origi, Lallana and Shaqiri. I feel Curtis Jones, Brewster, Elliott and Williams deserve squad places and should be able to fill in in the cups and some league matches. We've also effectively got Minamino as a new signing although he's had a chance to get some experience with us. Keita is starting to look the part as well. The only glaring hole I see in the squad is left back/centre back cover.
