  2. Surprised Enrique is not getting a chance. Would have thought Pepe would have had a word in Del Bosque's ear about him. Who is Spain's current left-back and is he better than our Enrique?

  5. Not sure what Maxi has done to piss Kenny off but think he should be forgiven and allowed to play in a league game too. He simply cannot perform any worse than Downing, Hendo or Adam.
  6. That's not saying much since Enrique apart, none of our summer signings have impressed! But still early days, and agree that he needs to play in the middle.

  10. I think the change in results when Kenny took over proves that Kenny is the better manager. We were heading for relegation under Woy, and once Kenny took over we were close to a top 4 finish.
  11. We hardly mustered any shots, barely created anything or worth until injury time, and Carroll's effort early on. Against Swansea. And a Swansea team that came to play, not just defend for their lives. In such an open game our midfield should have been creating chances galore considering the opponents but we didn't. Moves were breaking down, we looked out of ideas and our football lacked creativity. And that's not surprising considering the players in midfield, without an in-form Gerrard we didn't look threatening.
  12. Bit harsh! Don't think those 3 were s*** at all. Not brilliant but not s***. I think some foreign players offer things that you don't often get with British players. You'll never find an English Alonso. The most creative, talented and technically brilliant players in the league are foreigners. We needed some of that continental technique in our midfield yesterday, instead of relying on flat-footed, unsophisticated British (and er, Brazilian) brute force.
  13. I think we should have done more shopping abroad. The foreign lads that have been signed recently (Suarez and Enrique) have been roaring successes - and they didn't cost us a great deal considering their ability. We let go off some foreign players with good technique and an eye for a pass that our British contingent lack - players like Meireles and Aquilani. Okay they weren't super successful but they weren't any worse than Adam, Downing or Henderson.
  14. The strange thing about Carroll is that he has more potential than all our recent recruits. He really looked as if he's going to be some player at Newcastle. I think he still could become a great player, but not necessarily at Liverpool
  15. Playing him on the right is beyond pointless, he is hopeless in that position. He needs to start playing in central midfield, that's his position, we bought him because of his performances as a central midfielder at Sunderland. Why he's always playing on the right I don't know. We need to get rid off 442 and go back to having 3 central midfielders, especially when Gerrard returns.
  16. I was critical of Enrique always making these lists in another thread but he defo was one of our top 3 players today, he was our best attacking threat for most of the game. But a bad day at the office for most of the players, none of out midfield/attacking players deserve praise. 1. Enrique 2. Pepe 3. Johnson
  17. I've never been keen on these signings, not for the money that was spent on them. I hope this is just a kneekerk reaction after the poor performance today and that they prove me wrong, I really do. Because we're not going to get £100M to spend every season, not unless we sell someone who will bring in top dollar, e.g. Suarez.
  18. I think if we examine the transfers objectively, I would say we've blown a lot of money on average players. Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam... all average. Carroll had shown potential to be a top striker while at Newcastle but that doesn't justify £35M we spent on him. The others have always been average Premiership players, nothing more. That won't go down well with some but being strictly objective, these were poor buys. I don't think we'd be any worse had we kept Aquilani, Meireles, as well as giving more game time to Maxi and Spearing. Nobody can honestly say Hendo is any better than Spearing. I prefer Speo in fact, he at least never hides and gives 100%. Suarez was a good signing though.
  19. This half is seriously among the worst I've ever seen us play. Absolutely awful considering the opposition.
  20. We have a fantastic habit of making average teams look like Barcelona. We have been awful in this half.
  21. Both Adam and Henderson have been distinctly average. Our most potent threats have come from the full backs Enrique and Johnson. Midfield has got to step it up in the 2nd half if we're going to win this one. Those 3 are defenders, why are they expected to score?
  22. Yep never seen anything special about him. Hate to say it but Meireles would have offered a lot more in a game like this. We totally lack creativity without Gerrard.
  23. Swansea now on top. We've been very poor in the last 15 mins.
  24. No craft in midfield. All hard working grafters but no creativity. Missing Gerrard here.
