  1. Oh pipe down. Thats such a rubbish argument. Fine if you dont agree, but dont talk pap please. Really, what positions can we actually improve on what ive written in that first team? Kuyt, Meireles maybe? Well then tell me who we could realistically sign who would actually be better than either than them at this point in time.
  2. OK? And if we hadnt signed either of those players youd mentioned then Id make the statement "we lack a creative forward, and maybe some sort of poacher type goalscorer". But as it stands theres not many positions we can improve.
  3. Aye, and im sure toures reported wage of 220k p/w had nothing to do with that
  4. Not true. Our first team at the minute is something akin to: Reina Johnson Carragher Agger XXXXXXX Lucas Gerrard Kuyt Meireles Suarez Carroll Like I said, aside from the left back theres not many players I can think of that are willing to come in and actually improve the first team.
  5. Eh? At most our first team lacks a left back. Perfectly valid statement to make.
  6. youre missing the point. the only players who improve our first team directly are top class superstars, who arent interested in us for CL reasons.
  7. That depends on who stays and who goes. If noone leaves I think we're fine for another season, especially if we consider flannagan as another full back. Perhaps not ideal, but I think theres just about enough there to suggest that a new centre back would be a luxury buy rather than a totally necessary one.
  8. no idea! I was hoping for Enrique but that doesnt seem to be happening. I picked out sissoko before the rumours actually started as well, so id be happy with this one too.
  9. Not much really. All we need is a winger (Milner) and a left back and anything else is a luxury buy.
  10. budget depending, yes.
  11. im wondering who that would be. Any ideas?
  12. All well and good. We're in a tricky situation though. Our first eleven isnt too shabby at all. The problem with that is that the majority of players who would be a massive improvement arent interested. The likes of Milner is exactly what we need. Established PL players who can contribute now and bulk out the squad, which I believe has been our downfall in recent years.
  13. Too many points to field. Ill be swift. Danny Murphy is not similar in standing to Milner. I would primarily use him as a winger with options to cover the middle. The suggestion is we'll play as a three in the middle next season anyway which would give him a space in CM. Nothing condescending about asking people to consider what theyre posting - I do the same. Who else could we get with lots of premier league experience, who is still young, is a good solid player who can play across lots of positions and would cost less than Milner? Im interested in hearing this.
  14. Hes far better than Danny Murphy. I understand that you have to be biased as a local fan but please take off the blinkers for a few minutes. its fine to say other players are better than our own without getting caught up in circles. Milner isnt fairly immobile, hes actually renowned for being a fitness freak. He also had a good few successful years as a winger which suggests that, whilst he may not be the quickest, hes certainly no slouch. I would also ay his poor scoring record is mostly down to the teams hes been playing for - not the most successful. Hes well beyond a mid table club. I find it surprising that you say he wouldnt get into our midfield, when currently he offers more than Henderson and more than Adam (who incidentally has also only had "one good season" which you used as an excuse to lambast Milner). The fee also shouldnt be an issue, as I was hearing on here less than a month ago that if we want a player we should pay what it takes and the money shouldnt matter. I mean, going on previous logic £20M is a snip because its only a few million a year if he finishes his career with us. The thing that annoys me about any transfer debate on here is the blindness to pretty obvious facts, and also the hypocrisy used to back up purchases. I hate to dwell but to use Henderson as an example - it was all fine because we paid what we needed to get him. the overpriced fee didnt matter because we wanted him, and also because it works out at so little per year. I also hear how people used the equally overinflated Torres fee plus other sales as some sort of clever maths equation: -Torres - Babel = + Carroll + Suarez .... LOL we've done well!!!!! Maybe I want to say that Torres was swapped for Milner, Adam and a left back. That would also be a good deal, no? Well im expecting someone to tell me its ridiculous to say that, and thats because it is. But its equally ridiculous in every situation. Some people need to invest in a thinking cap pronto.
  15. No....because Milner has player longer in the premier league, has a lot more experience, has englad experience etc.....i dont really care what Milner was like when he was 20 because I dont own a TARDIS. And that Allardyce comparison is beyond help.
  16. You lack so much foresight you cant even see past your own nose.
  17. Excuse me? He was brilliant in his last season with Villa, and its certainly not the first time a big club has ruined a good player. Two footed, work ethic like Dirk Kuyt, can play all positions across midfield, still young as well.
  18. who wrote this?
  19. Erm, Milners a hell of a lot better than Henderson. £20M would be a fair price for Milner given the hefty english tax going around at the minute.
  20. I also have business cards and am willing to translate the reverse side into any required language. £2 a piece, a solid investment for when Elm0 completes his badges and is a famous football coach.
  21. Great news. We only need rid of that clueless Hodgson and this place is back in order.
  22. Thats unfair. I was one of the few who moaned. And look how things have panned out since that signing, eh?
  23. Ah yes. The old "throw some s*** and see what sticks" argument. Im a firm believer in the opposite - prudency and wise choices. No harm missing out on someone because theres always someone better out there.

  25. basing this on what exactly?
