First things first, despite a poor season last year, Rafa did well during his stint here. This was always going to be the benchmark for Roy to live up to, which as we have seen is an extremely difficult thing to do. However, its the manner in which Roy is losing things that is the most depressing thing. The poor tactics, the interviews before kick off with TV stations, playing poorly thought out formations.....the list goes on. The man clearly has some issues, and despite being rather apathetic at most to his cause at the start of the season, I find myself hiding in my wardrobe secretly pining for Rafa to come back and make things better again.

I think the first point of your post needs to be thought about more when youre rating Meireles and his performances thus far. You cant expect a player to come into a new club in a foreign league and be the galvanising force for a poor team. I really liked the look of him at the world cup, hes very good at short play and breaking into the box and long term i think hell offer a lot to the team. Of course, this all applies when played from the centre and not the right wing.
