Well, are we expecting someone to come in if Ngog goes then? Problems I forsee with this are that even if Ngog goes we will still lighter in other areas, particularly in left back. Another issue is that given the current wage budget stopping us buying anyone (essentially), one would have to assume that shifting Ngog, on likely lowish wages, isnt going to ease this problem, and would have no effect on this issue when we consider what Cahill would likely be on. This would likely leave us with Suarez, Kuyt and Carroll as three senior forwards/strikers, and Pacheco from the reserves who may be able to step up - although from what has gone before its unlikely that he will make much of an impact. My issue would be with the potential for injuries and what happens if say, Carroll is out injured. If we want to play 442 (not saying we will, its hypothetical) we're left with Suarez and Kuyt to fill the two forward slots, which leaves us with an untested Pacheco on the bench. Such a scenario would also cause problems as we wouldnt be able to use Kuyt on the right side. Basically, I think we'll be going light into the season if we sell Ngog right now, because theres noone in the club to step up and the chances of replacement given the wage bill is minimal. Risky business, and Id rather we just paid the full lump in cash for Cahill if we go down that route.
