  3. lovely. couldn;t add it to the thread going could you?
  4. no more on the footy forum. thanks.
  5. so whats owen worth? I figure here are 2 ways of looking at it: 1) if we buy him back then we are getting a player approaching his peak with a new 4 or 5 year contract. We sold him for 8mill plus Nunez - lets call it 9m. We have had a year without his wages - 3m? so take the 9m add in the 3m we didn't pay out and add say a million in a signing on bonus then a 13million payment to madrid doesn;t look that unrealistic and we'd be in the same place as if we had kept him. 2) we got 9m for him and now we are buying him back for 13? (just to use the same figures as in the above example) why on earth should we be paying Madrid 4 million in order that we effectively LOAN them Owen for a year. its a disgrace! so which is it?
  6. you mean you actually read someone elses posts? looks like progress
  7. you will be if you have a go at people. your post count may be low but the suspension per post rate is probably one of the highest on here and it isn't showing any sign of slowing down.
  8. 43.78934% rising to 62.93754% if he gets his oats this morning.
  9. its all in the match thread! http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=72221
  10. no - you said which implys these were at the top of the list - but you don;t actually know that. I'd suggest that the RM's we have been heavily linked with are more stop gap players because our main targets are not available yet. I'd suggest that the 3 rm's we have been heavily linked with are Stelios, Solano and Figo - all of which would improve our squad but I'd never see them as a main target. The implication in your post is that there were only 2 rm that we had gone for and that we had failed in getting both. If we were only after 2 (and we are not) and those were the only 2 then I'd be dissapointed in Rafa. I'm not because I know we have been linked and been talking to more - a suggestion that you find difficult to grasp. as for CB's - whats happing there seems a lot more under wraps. its clearly a problem and a concern for the manager - hence the short signing of pellegrino there in Jan. I have no idea who he is pusuing but the lack of the short term stop gaps linking (such as solano/stelios and figo) may indicate that he has found his target and is thrashing out a deal on the quiet before the window closes. I hope so.
  11. Excellent ? and a fine opinion that is. Well thought and and worded as well. and as for Partridge - I was kidding. I think! Posts merged: exactly - main target, the way I see it, means long term player - neither of those 2 mentioned would have been.
  12. I never said we weren?t struggling for people in those positions. I am refuting that the players mentioned were our main targets and by implication of the post our only targets. I think a striker was always on the cards ? and I don?t; think Crouch would have been signed had it become know earlier that Owen could be available. However at the time Crouch was the main target and we landed him. Same with Reina ? main target and we got him. Same with Gonzalez ? excluding the work permit thing. Sissoko ? I?m not convinced he was a main target - I don?t think that Didi would have been signed for another year had Sissoko been available at the time. Players like sissoko and Figo weren?t, in my opinion, main targets. They were players that would improve the squad that became available on the transfer market. Sissoko ened up at LFC ? Figo didn?t- that?s just the nature of transfers- they don?t always work. The fact that it has been fairly public knowledge that we are looking at Figo and Stelios indicates to me that no main targets for the right of midfield were available to buy this summer and that Rafa is looking for a one or 2 year stop gap until the right player can be found. I?m sure he has another couple of stop gaps lined up as well ? maybe we?ll see one of them at the club before lone. Partridge anyone? Especially if Owen is coming back?. As for Defenders ? Looks like no-one want sot join us ? or no-one that rafa wants. We have a few players who can fit in there still but I?d like to see progress made towards a first choice CB being made. Looks like this is one position where a loan deal might be sorted out for the season until our targets can be pursuaed to join ? at the right price with the selling club. It?s a complex business and I think some people look at it in black and white.
  13. Without knowing the inner workings of Rafa and the others at the helm of LFC I don?t see how you can present those names as being a main target at one time with any authority whatsoever. So even if they were the main targets then that suggests that there are secondary ones. Do you think that LFC do one transfer at a time or that LFC approaches many targets to assess their availability. Because the way you are presenting it suggests that we only had 3 targets and now we are screwed. I think the way you presented it is very simplistic and misleading.
  14. But you called them our main targets. Were they, or were there others as well?
  15. We did? I didn?t know that rafa issued a list showing who our targets were. Do enlighten me.
  16. another thread. the last one was getting too big and cumbersome. not at all Owenesque. So Real Madrids top men were in Monaco. Ours also are. Where's Owens agent today......? Posts merged: notice I said the King not THE King. sigh - how many pages for this one? and blame Stevie H for closing down the last thread mentioning THAT band just screwed the server....
  17. nothing to see here folks - move along http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=72292
  18. so how much is a cup tied french player, with a very recent draumatic break of his leg on his medical record, played out of position and not scoring with any frequency in the 20 odd games he has played in the last year, worth then? bit of a differnce to the injury free, free scoring, Cisse that joined LFC.
  19. he's worth 20m + if chelsea want him. far less for anyone else.
  20. he's worth whatever someone will pay for him if he agrees to join them. see Owen to Newcastle as an example.
  21. I could see cisse being sold with one of the positions that raffa needs t fill coming the other way. maybe even a loan each way. as for who.....??? that leaves the way for owen to return and the baros money to be used for a cb/rm/ whatevers missing.
  22. Its irrelevant to his value in an open market. However it is not an open market as they are very few buyers due to his demands. So then we enter into the how much is Michael Owen worth to Liverpool and the question of pride over differing valuations will enter into the equation. Why didn?t we just sign him to a 5 year deal and loan him to Madrid for a year. That would have been SOOO much easier. Did you see what I did with hindsight there ? clever ain?t I?
  23. I knew you?d say that.
  24. there is a match thread on here (a sticky pre and during the match) this one was speculation. I'll close it now to avoid confusion.
