Other potential Captains that withdrew though injury included Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell. Gets tough to claim you should have been captain when you were injured as the chance came up. I am not going to go throguh each time Campbell had the chance to be captain and was overlooked but on a quick search theres one of the "Owen as captain instead of Sol" that can be thrown out from his claims. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt by Campbell and its driven from a commercial standpoint to sell books. To use a race agenda to drive commercial sucess is despicable in y eyes - especially when there are race issues to address in the sport and you'd like to think that someone of the standing of Sol Campbell would be front and center of those issue. Walked out in the middle of an Arsenal game after being subbed at Half time Joined Notts County and left after one game. Uses a self centered and unjustified race argument to justify his book He may have a point to call the FA Institutionally Racist but the reason behind him doing that leaves a lot to be desired.

sol Campbell seemed to think that captain is based on footballing ability - or seniority? Either of which can be questioned as regarded his claim that he should have been England Captain for ten years. I think the captains role is much more than that - you have to be a leader and good with the media and Sol doesn't make the grade there. Why doesn't he make the same claim about being Arsenal Captain? Anyway him claiming that race is the reason for him not being captain makes as much sense as Messi bitching about him not being Captain of Barca because he's from South America. Sol, by claiming this, detracts from the discussion that need to be had about racism. By using it to promote his book he dilutes the valid arguments that are out there. How the hell can a black person get a break as a manager when Owners keep reaching out to the likes of Harry and Sam... clearly how good you are doesn't come into it. and carlton palmer is a nut job anyway..

Its not like Owen was a regular captain though - he only captained England 9 times. Campbell is sayign that he should have been captain for 10 years - yet his England career was only 11 years. So he thinks he should have been captin after playing at that level for one year? not a chance. Sol's debut was in 96. Captain then was Shearer (finished in about 2000 - and was only captain 4 years after first playing for England). Then Beckham took over and was captain for 59 games. then you had Terry and Gerrard. Theres nothing in his career to suggest that he would have been a better captain than any of those he played alongside. I think he was captain at Spurs in his final season there - but I don't recall him even being a regular captain at Arsenal (and I can't be arsed to look up how many times he was captain anywhere). He's a wrong un for using race as an excuse in this case... theres plenty of valid racist issues in football but he's just making up guff to sell his book.

there will be two games left after we play Chelsea. This is going to the bitter end and will shred everyones nerves... 2 week gap is bad enough... it's gonna kill me..

Chelsea's next 3 league games include spurs and arsenal at home. Even though they have the easiest run in that's 2 games that aren't a guaranteed 3 points. we still have to beat Man city and Chelsea at home to have a shot at the title.

Chelsea have the easiest run in. we have no control over the others apart from the damage we can cause them at Anfield. it could come down to mental attitude... and I think we are just fine there... lets give the lads a rest and then stroll into old Trafford like we own the fukcin place. and then actually OWN them...

The Glazers took over Tampa Bay bucs in 1995 - they had two good coaches and won a superbowl. Since then they have had two really bad ones in 5 seasons and a combined win ratio of about 35%. They are pretty crap at appointing managers. Long may that trend continue.
