Forgot about that one Since beating Everton at Goodison last season 4-2, the Mancs have only scored 11 goals in their last 12 competitive games. Seven victories have been by the scoreline 1-0. Are they going to bore themselves to a trophy this season? Also, only Derby County have scored less goals than them this season in the League. Its their defence winning games this season, sounds strange that! Thought I never say this about a Manc team but their attack is totally toothless.
Ref is having a bad game, already seen two Reading players commit cynical challenges so far this half and neither was booked. Oh and the goal was offside by three players!
Its baffling! Rafa should stop worrying about "tactics" of the opposition and start to choose his best side based on priority. His main priority this season is to at least challenge for the league title. Premiership Champions League FA Cup/League Cup in that order. Why play your best striker in a game against Reading in the Carling Cup but drop him to the bench for games against Portsmouth and Birmingham. Rafa sometimes is too precise (with his tactics and gameplan) for his own good.
What's worrying from our point of view is that the Mancs this season have not played well at all. They have been very fortunate in the regard that one goal in every game has been enough for them. Only Derby, Reading and Blackburn have scored less goals this season. They have scored only 6 goals so far (same number we put past Derby), are lying in second place and amassed 14 points. Football is a funny old game sometimes and I just wonder are the Mancs going to improve or will they all of a sudden be going into games being satisfied with a 1-0 result which could ultimately be their downfall?
Well NWR the way we played yesterday was no different to how you guys have been playing over the past three league games. Plenty of possession but very little creativity and guile in attack. The difference between the teams has been our set plays and someone on the pitch to make a goal out of nothing. Take your games against Everton, Spurs and Sunderland, all won by 1-0 with two goals coming from corners and the other from a long range effort from Nani. It is certainly one area of the pitch we need to seriously improve on because its games like yesterday where if your set plays are good it can get you out of jail and nick an undeserved 1-0 rather than the deserved 0-0 draw. I wouldn't be too surprised if you win again today 1-0 from a set play and complete the metamorphism into George Graham's Arsenal

Exactly, a lot of perspective is needed today. Yes the result wasn't desirable but considering the performance, I feel this is a point gained and not two points lost. Pompey are always a tough nut to crack on their own ground. We still got a game in hand on some of the teams around us and next weekend the Mancs play Chelsea, so one of them are going to drop points, while we have a home game against Birmingham. In the overall context, this result isn't as bad as it seems.

Well we are certainly not going into that game with the ideal preparation, lose this today and that is 3 defeats on bounce in the League. The performance so far has been awful, misplaced passes galore.
Well considering how the game went, I would of taken 1-0, it could of been much worse, alot of players didn't turn up tonight. Arbeloa, Agger, Maschareno were awful, the occasion got to them. Reina saved our bacon, he's my Man of the Match.
Ronaldo is the key man for them, he has been the one this season who has converted draws into wins for them, which is why they are pushing Chelsea for the title. It would be interesting though to see how the mancs would cope if he did indeed get a long term injury.
Roma made the mistake of trying to push forward too quickly after the first goal went in to get on level terms as soon as possible. Tactically they should of sat back and weathered the storm a little. The Mancs went for it right from the off hoping to catch Roma sleeping. Roma really had to consolidate, keep it at 1-0, keep it tight for a long as possible and gradually work your way back into the game. Roma never achieved that and all of a sudden they were 3-0 down in the first 20 mins. As brilliant as the Mancs were, Roma themselves played a big part in their own downfall.
Aye over the past few weeks the Mancs have become heavily reliant on individual skill rather than team ethic, particularly Ronaldo. He has got them out of jail numerous times, converting draws into important wins. If Roma keep Ronaldo quiet they will have a good chance of progressing.
It was a pen, but Ronaldo was very clever on the incident. If you watch it again, Ronaldo intentionally moves his trailing leg towards the defender, basically saying to Woodgate, you touch me and I'm going down. Woodgate tries to pull out but its too late he catches Ronaldo's trailing leg with his knee. Is that being sly or is it naivety on the defenders part?
