I thought this was a joke. Pretty sad to see the knife going into one of our legends after an indifferent season, in which he's struggled with injuries. Who needs enemies eh.

My only concern is if he's still the right man for Liverpool FC, and if he leaves in the summer he'll have failed, easier conditions on the continent or otherwise. It is funny to hear that Rafa can only win titles with an open cheque book, which is a criticism often labelled at Jose.

30 mill could buy us another defensive winger or two. I'm game.

Surely our concern should be how he performs in the Liverpool job not how in-demand he is abroad? I doubt many continental chairman will stand the stifling football without success for long either.

Well Gerrard seems to be taking more stick than most despite being nowhere near the worst offender. In fact, even at his worst this season he's still been among our best and most creative players. I think that says it all about how much we rely on him and how this team has progressed. It just smacks of looking for a scapegoat instead of looking at the reasons why he's left isolated and unable to have an impact on the game.

Said the same to my dad before. We need a change at all levels to be fair, and we can only dream of hiring Jose, a manager who just wants to win and not play chess with opposing managers.

So Gerrard's major contribution to the attack is void because it was Torres who eventually scored? What's everyone else's excuse? Whatever. He's an easy target when things are not going well, and people forget who he is and what he's done for the club.

Bit of truth in that but it can't be a coincidence that when we were pressing forward in the first 10 minutes and playing with a bit of tempo and ambition that Gerrard was actively involved and linking the play. He can't be chasing all over the park looking for the ball because the manager wants him close to Torres, who would be even more isolated. I feel for for him. Even if he shouldn't let the weight of expectation affect his mood, he does and the team playing in such a negative highlights it even more. Eh? Shocking some of the stick Gerrard is taking. We had 10 other players out there today, none of whom have contributed as much as Gerrard in recent times.

I don't think either of them can be judged on their performances today. They were isolated for a good 75 minutes and fed off scraps, and yet we're still at the centre of anything good we did. The truth is they're surrounded by average, defensive minded players and both are probably thinking about leaving. I think it might do Gerrard good if he did go.

His wages have got nothing to do with it, they're all on big bucks and he was by no means the worst today. He and Torres can't perform miracles every single game. Every time it looks like Rafa is learning about our league we take a step backwards.

The frustrating thing is it's no surprise at all. His negative streak that will always win over any idea of form, confidence or trust in players who provide a bit of spark and creativity.

What do you expect him to do with no service of any note?

Don't really understand why Gerrard is being singled out. He did ok with what he was given, which wasn't much. Torres too looked dejected at playing in such an impotent team.

Pitiful really. As soon as the team was picked you knew it deep down. The sad thing is I'm not that bothered and just want the season over with. It's time for a change at all levels, not good enough.

It could be 60 minutes and we still won't score today. We fell apart after the pen and have slotted straight back into predictable mode.

We are pitiful going forward. At least Aqaulini injects a bit of urgency into our play. I just don't see what Lucas gives us that he doesn't.

It's the lack of ambition that galls the most. We're just content to let the game drift away. To be fair to the front two we might aswell have given them a rest.
