    When their hand moves towards the ball and handles it? That's been the rule since I can remember. A ball hitting a players hand or arm without him even realising, often at pace, has never been handball. I think the pressure in the modern game has made refs give them.

    Think when it becomes an interpretation of the rule is when the confusion kicks in. Also who has judged what an unnatural position is when going to block a shot? In most cases it's instinctive and hands or arms can be in any number of positions. I prefer the original rule of intent and deliberate hand/arm movement towards the ball. The officials need help on this but technology is still a dirty word among the stiffs at the FA

    I don't think it is difficult tbh, especially for a ref. There has to be hand or arm movement towards the ball with intent. The ball bouncing up off the ground or off a keepers chest and then deflecting on to his arm is never handball. Not that I've seen tbh.

    Handball has to be deliberate. Baffles me how many people, including supposed 'experts', still call pens and free kicks when the ball accidentally hits a players hand or arm
