I read through some of the thread but not all so apologies if already been covered, but I´d be more inclined to say the problem was playing Kuyt and Lucas in the same midfield rather than Lucas and Masch so a midfield 4 comprising of Lucas, Masch and 2 wingers, say Babel and Maxi I reckon would work.

Acclimatising to a different league, a different country and a new language takes some time. Have you ever lived in a different country and learnt a new language? If so, you´ll know its not a piece of cake. Granted, he should be putting in the effort to learn english rather than getting a kick up the backside from his teacher! However, he´s not the first and I doubt he´ll be the last player not to show his potential in his first season which is why I reckon he should be given till Xmas. If I remember correctly from previous forums wasn´t Pires one of those players? I´m sure other posters can clarify and probably provide other names. In any case, if we´ve spent 20M (or whatever we´ve already shelved out) should´nt he be given a chance? If not, I would consider that a poor investment.

Jeez!! Nothin like givin the guy a chance. I agree with another poster on a past forum I´ll give him till Xmas till I make my judgement be that with his performances or the lack of them.

If Arsenal lose today, lose against Chelsea next week their confidence will be low and IF (ok, BIG if) we win our next 2 games (one of which will be Arsenal) we could theorically be only 2 points behind them! Bizarre season.

Wouldn´t that be where confidence comes in? The more we win = higher confidence = increase of glimpses = better performances. Sorted.
