Gerrard is never a direct replacement and buying in January for a short term option on a player which will be overpriced and most probably untried in the Premiership is not worth the gamble, as the new buy could take a few months to acclimitse anyway, unless of course you can prise away Tiote from Newcastle. I reckon we should weigh up whether we need anyone after we see how the squad copes in December. Id play a midfield 3 from Adam, Hendo, Spearing and Shelvey with Gerrard coming in when fit enough. 2 wingers from Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy and Downing with Suarez up front. A defensive unit of 5 when defending and an attacking 3 when attacking, plus the 2 fullbacks and 1 from the CM 3. Team for Fulham would be Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Adam, Hendo, Spearing, Bellamy, Maxi and Suarez. Just read Tiotes out this weekend with a knee problem.

Gutted! I reckon he´s more important than Suarez than suggested by another poster. The game yesterday was comfortably won 2 nil with no Suarez but when Lucas went off injured we looked slightly disjointed. Gerrard is never a direct replacement. Him and Adam have already played together once this season and they were awful as a pairing! Good to hear Shelvey getting a recall back from Blackpool. I reckon could mean a slight change in the way we play. I´d go for a compact 3 in midfield of Hendo/Adam/Spearing/Gerrard/Shelvey with one of the 3 slightly further forward and then 2 wide men (Kuyt/Downing/Maxi) who make a compact 5 when defending and an attacking 3 with Suarez as the sole man up top. We´ve still got options so IMO no need for any emergency and most probably over priced midfield signings in January.
