What are you confused about? In a topic about the manager's contract, someone decides to bring to our attention that Gerrard is 'utterly unsackable' locally born and a lifelong fan in an attempt to belittle him. I thought it was pretty obvious.

It's staggering how Gerrard's place of birth, status and commitment to LFC are always used against him by some.

I would have just given him a 2 year extension but long term managerial stability is always a plus. Currently there's no better manager equipped for the job.

Depends whether your City and people have been subjected to a vicious media campaign and constant negative stereotypes by the same jingoistic tools who fuel the whole national team circus. Also, some fans are used to success at club level and don't need England for the same fix.

I'd like to see England win but we all know that's not going to happen. The important thing is they're there because they always provide the best WC drama and entertainment. The over confidence and arrogance in the build up, the disjointed performances and scrape through the group, the inevtiable 'plucky' QF exit on pens and the fallout and media blame game that ensues. I look forward to the likes of Trevor Brooking lambasting the lack of techique at grass roots level.

I'm not that bothered about any in-depth tactical insight, which is always going to be difficult with Keys monopolising the debate with his inane chit chat. I'd rather listen to my mates for that. I just want some honest and passionate opinion. It's all very sanitised and with the same few faces on every week it's become very cliquey and agenda ridden. That goes for all the Sky Sports programmes like GOS and Soccer Saturday. RTE is a breath of fresh air, even if I don't always agree with what the pundits have to say.
