In no particular order (bias declared below). Peter Mokaba up north - largely white elephant Durban's Moses Mabhida is a bit of a white elephant and will remain as such if they don't knock down the rugby stadium which is right next door and force the sharks to use MM instead. Loftus Versveld - upgraded rugby stadium used by the bulls - doing fine Royal Bafokeng - the Bafokeng tribe are platinum billionaires, so they'll be ok Soccer City - flagship stadium, used for most big football games and U2 concerts and the like Ellis Park - upgrade of rugby stadium - Lions are useless though and its in a dodgy part of town, so will prob also revert to white elephant unless Joburg try and do the urban renewal thing around there. Free State stadium - upgrade of rugby stadium - big regional centre so it was worth it. Nelson Mandela in Port Elizabeth - currently bit of a white elephant - however, that area needs such a facility so lets see how it goes. and finally : Cape Town Stadium (I'm biased cos I live here) - I think its an asset to the city - the big knock on effect was the urban renewal and infrastructural (esp to public transport) upgrades done - there seem to be several thing happening - big local football games, U2 concert things and so on.
