  1. I have taken the bet. Sadly my finances are shorter than a midgit on it's knees at the mo' so £20 is all I could blow. It seems utterly stupid!, complete waste of money. But then coming back from 3 goals down against A.C Milan in the space of 10 minutes even now seems a ridiculous statement. Game on.
  2. Yes, any idiot would. The fact you needed to ask that question makes me wonder what other pearls of wisdom you have for us Phil??!! lol ps. Just for future convo's, I'm aware that water's wet, fire's hot etc etc
  3. Bet Chelsea sign him, bags of goals and by the looks of his last performance I reckon he'd be a good understudy for Cech!. I'd prefer us to sign Forlan.
  4. Well I guess Germany have helped hasen his decision one way or the other. The papers will attempt to turn up the heat a notch tomorrow.
  5. Which option fills me with the most revulsion I wonder, burning a tenner or being a Spurs fan?, it's a no brainer really eh. I'd happily burn my own money, than have had to go down The Lane for the last 20 years. Jesus the thought of that chills my blood.
  6. Really absolutely everything would have to go right in Roy's first season for us to challenge for the title, but, what in your opinion would be the 3 aspects that would give us a wholeheartedly unexpected triumph. 1. Roy's new signings hit the ground running (really fast) and all have as good a 1st season as Nando did. 2. Torres scores 30+, Stevie 20+, Jocan 10+ etc 3. Last seasons top 4 have a season like we've just had ?? Stranger things have happened. Honest.
  7. Welcome to LFC Roy. I have a good feeling you can keep the good players we have (minus Masch & beni) and I hope Kenny gives you a list of the players who are not really all that. I hope you spend the whatever cash the fockers give you & what they don't consume from player sales (Degen. Please.) on one marquee signing. A winger with devastating pace maybe, your call, but check this mf You might even have enough left over to invest in some more players!!. I hope you focus on young, english lads at the Academy and Championship/LeagueOne level who can make the step up and be a & successful member of the 1st team squad.
  8. Mascherano is off mate. As soon as Argentina are done with the W.C he'll be flying to either Milan or Barcalona with a pen in his hand. Stick stevie in the centre and let's spend the little cash we have on real quality R&L wingers who are so good it helps disguise the defensive frailties of our full backs!! lol
  9. Well said sir, although he's not who'd I'd choose to manage the club, I will be behind Roy 100% and hope he gets us playing with the same verve and creativity as Fulham did last season.
  10. I thought Birmingham wanted Babel ?. I hope so.
  11. I disagree. I think Aquaman would be good playing in behind a front 2, with SG, who isn't getting any faster, back in a more DM role he once occupied very effectively. Furthermore, I would suggest it is important to take some of the physical strain from Nando's intray (and hopefully grant him some extra shooting space) is to play Jocanovic as the 2nd striker. His performance in the W.C showed he has plenty of heart and the physical presence to deal with the EPL.
  12. Super nice!, (as the danes would annoyingly say) How much d'you reckon Kenny (fingers crossed) will get of that? Enough to buy someone good enough to restrict Lucas to the amount of pitch time he gets with Brazil ?
  13. When my Dad gets together with his childhood mate Dave Godwin, his Shanks story always seems to gets a mention. They were both born and raised in the streets off Penny Lane, and it was Dave who happened to meet Shanks when he was about 10. Dave didn't like football, still doesn't, it was his father with ambitions a Godwin might represent LFC one day. After one particularly wet and thoroughly unenjoyable school football training he was was wandering home, not taking too much care of the casey he never wanted and he let the ball wander into the road. It caused a car to brake sharply and an angry driver shouted some stern words through the car window regards where the ball belonged. At this point Dave must have cut a pretty forlorn figure. The next words he heard were shouted in his direction from behind, not unkindly, but he was in no doubt who this stranger was speaking to. Dave was asked by this random guy out for a walk why he intentionally let his ball roll into the street? and gave some non reply young kids do when confronted.... er I dunno.... The guy asked him to sit down on a garden wall and over the next 15 minutes ascertained why the young Godwin didn't like football, how he could improve his technique if he wished, but most importantly he drilled into him how important it was to be your best, even if you weren't any good, or didn't like the game, 'just try your very best and you can hold your head high and look other men in the eye, with pride in yerself'. Dave still didn't like football, but he remembers those words and the passion with which they were spoken. Legend.
  14. Nice to hear this morning that he's still up for playin at Anfield and it's just his medical to be completed, had a feeling he'd be Inter bound!
  15. I hear that thing has gone away until after the world cup. Clever lawyers with their injunctions can only delay publication, not kill the story. Sadly I hear it's true and if that's the case he'll be off to R.Madrid.
  16. We could make a tidy sum on Mascherano with Inter having champs league money in their pocket, or if Arsenal price Cesc out of a move back to Camp Nou, Barca might have money to play ball. For my money we need a class striker, a left back and the ball winning, culured passing central midfielder we saw in Xabi and wished Lucas had've turned out to be. Be off to Spain la!. Fingers crossed Jokanović can be persuaded to join us and not Inter, but that looks like a potential 'one that got away' scenario to me. Let's see what Citeh & Chelski don't want in late August and with the absence of Champs league I'm sure we'll clear up Our biggest concern is keeping the better players we have. Keep and add 3 quality players to this (if we mean business, albeit on a budget) 25. Reina 2. Johnson 4. Aquilani 5. Agger 8. Gerrard 9. Torres 15. Benayoun 17. Rodriguez 23. Carragher 18. Kuyt 37. Skrtel 22. Insua 16. Kyrgiakos 46. Amoo 40. Ayala 47. Pacheco 39. Eccleston 0?. Jonjo Shevley Dalla Valle Sell, based on a (fingers crossed!) good world cup 19. Babel - 10-12 20. Mascherano - 35m 1. Cavalieri - 3.5 21. Lucas - 8 11. Riera - 7 24. Ngog - 3.5 27. Degen - ? lol 42. Gulacsi - magic bean 30. Itandje - bus pass loan out 29. Nemeth 28. Plessis 31. El Zhar 26. Spearing 32. Darby 34. Kelly 48. Bruna 36. Irwin Reserves. Mavinga 41. Hansen 43. Bouzanis 49. Robinson - - Duran - Kacaniklic - Kohlert - Mendy - Palsson - Poloskei - Saric - Simon - Weijl
  17. We were offered him for 8m
  18. No bud. My pick is Gus Hiddink. It's up to the board to come up with the best man to retain players and steer us through a difficult period. I know they say he turned down Inter to respect his contract with the Turks, but one look at his CV and I see a manager that can be the steady hand we need. His restructuring of Chelsea after Scholari was excellent and despite some criminal refereeing decisions against Barca they would have made the Champs League final that year. If we are ready to pay rafa 6m to go then surely there's another 2-3 to buy out Hiddink's contract and ensure we don't have to make do with Man city's unwanted.
  19. Got a horrible feeling we'll regret letting him go. Adios hombre, YNWA
  20. You've got what you were after, Rafa's out and your relived, super. Know who our next manager is gonna be?, no neither do I. Know which of our elite players will see this as the perfect opportunity to do one after the W.C to greener pastures?. Nope?, neither do I really, but I've got an opinion, brilliant eh. Rafa had the respect of the dressing room, aside of any minor spats with players regarding pitch time. (Be interesting to see whether Benayoun thinks Rafa improved him as a player?) He really was the be hope of keeping the current core of the team. Mascherano is off. Some say 'ah well if we get a big fee it's ok, we can replace him', like they know for a fact that money will be reinvested. He's captain of Argentina and comes with massive prestige attached, in a similar way to Alonso and we all know what a gap he left. SG who knows, probably Madrid bound, Torres I think will give it one more season, Pepe will stay but won't seem the same happy go lucky player we all love. It's rubbish. I really hope and pray it's not the case that in a years time we are in a worse off position than now, but my cynical chip kicks in everytime I think about my beloved LFC. The board's reaction is clear evidence they think we won't be sold in time for the next transfer window, or the one after that and our owners will hold out for what they want, while our faithful fans invest their hard earned money bank rolling the whole sorry mess by buying season tickets and not boycotting at least 1 home game in a whole season. The sun is shining bright in Copenhagen today but I'm too depressed to enjoy it. I've got a horrible image of Mark Hughes smiling, reaching up and touching the 'this is Anfield' poster alongside Purslow and maybe Hicks will try and get in the photo to ease the nightmare his life has become as LFC owner. The mancs would have a field day. Life is sometimes too cruel. Perfect job for Gus Hiddink's talents.
  21. Gus Hiddink is the man for us, if the board follow through on the initial reports of Mark Hughes they can f$%k off along with our grasping, purile and pernicious owners.
  22. If I had the cash I'd pay someone to remove his tongue. with a blunt spoon
  23. Glad you're not doing the pre match chat
