In which parallel universe do local players get priority these days? Unless you\'re talkiing about 2 of our best players over the last decade.

No one is saying we should stop searching for top talent from abroad, but surely common sense dicates that if the quality is there bringing through homegrown players should be the number one aim, especially with this new ruling?
3. Is there a new update on this? Can\'t find anything.

What sort of comment is that? Ah, someone has already confirmed my suspicions.
5. Parry was easy going and looked like a clown, but was completely inept at his job. I wouldn't read too much into it. Most succesful businesmen are complete t***s.

I like the idea in theory. It will force managers to give homegrown reserves a squad role instead of wasting money looking abroad.
7. They'll have had plenty of recuperation time before Wedesday. Play the best team, get the game won and then make some changes.
8. Leaflets, banners and chants? It's all been done and will have minimal short term effect. I'm sure it gives those involved a shot in the arm, but in terms of forcing two ruthless LBO merchants out of a profitable football brand, it's small fry and nothing they haven't dealt with before. Maybe they need a high profile front man and a bigger push behind the fan buy out or approaching prospective buyers/partners. It just seems like we're going round in circles without any real practical solutions - something they can say to the majority, look, this is the alternative. As it stands it still has the feel of an stuffy working mans club.
9. It's off Koptalk. The lad who posted it on RAWK probably paid upwards of 20 quid for the priviledge.
10. But it isn't is it, for the reasons already outlined. It's good for the LBO c**** owning us, that's it. It's sickening.
11.

Exactly. It's just more money (earned on the back of the club's name) down the drain that should be invested back into the club and team.
12. Not sure how you come to that conclusion. Rafa or the club will see none of that money. The only people it benefits is the owners who are bleeding us dry.
13. I think people are getting carried away with this 80 million figure. It will be subject to various conditions, and we'll probably only get the full amount if we stay in the CL spots over the term of the deal, which isn't guaranteed given City's spending power and our penny pinching to service the loans. It's all spin and bulls*** to cover the cracks.
14. He'll be gone next summer. Can't say I'm that worrried as long as Rafa gets to spend the money.
15. Felt that myself. When watching the game back I noticed that Dirk was dropping off far too deep leaving Torres isolated. If Kuyt is going to play through the middle he needs to work around the main striker.
16. I meant when he's paired with Lucas he looks quite protective of him and more tactically aware. There's just no doubting his game from that position at all, and as we saw on Saturday the link up with Torres is still very much in effect coming from deep and we look like a far more potent attacking unit overall. Obviously with Aqualini back we'll have even more options but I'd like to see a similar set up at home throughout the season, with Stevie as the driving force.
17. 'cash back' Haha.
18. I like the look of Lucas and Gerrard together. Lucas in his most natural role and Gerrard seems to rise to the added responsibility.
19. Not really. Why put extra pressure on the lad? He hasn't played a full game for a while and will need time to get back to full match sharpness. He should be eased back, especially given he's playing in a completely new league and culture.
20. I'm looking at post Xmas. Before that is a bonus.
21. To be fair, I would rather he was good at his job than pretending to be a fan. Moores was a 'red' and look at the mess he made of us.
22. The problem Purslow has is he was a yank appointment, so regardless of how well he does his job he'll have that shadow hanging over him with the fans. The spin he came out with re the summer spending was rubbish though and straight from the owners ring piece.
23. I think once everyone is fit we'll have a strong squad, but we went into the summer needing some quality cover for Torres, which failed to materialse due to the owners penny pinching. It remains to be seen whether that could be our downfall this season. There's always January but I wouldn't hold my breath.
24. “We are working very hard together, very close. “I would say we have a meeting not just every week but every day. “We are on the phone and as soon as I try to do something or want to do something, he is there. “So we are working very hard here and I think the relationship is good. I am really pleased. Added Benitez: “I think he understands the club. “He was telling me about some games and he remembers who scored the winning goals and things like this – so sometimes it’s a problem for me! “He loves the club and he wants the best for the club.” http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-f...00252-24681030/
25. Rafa talking highly of Purslow today. Seems like they have a good relationship.
