My point is that he did not interview - for reasons unbeknownst to us all I was jsut saying that if that was the reason he did not interview initially it doesn't bode well that is all.....guns down gentlemen That structure needs a hell of a lot more integration and cooperation than the traditional English style of manager is the kingpin who controls all...I am worried that such a system may not be conducive to English football.....
-
I was talking about the Barcelona DOF/manager/ Technical Director model they seem to be trying to do
-
That sounds about right....I suppose if it was true hopefully the owners wouldn't be stupid enough to plant timed C4 into their new system I have actually got to the point where I just want them to appoint someone so we can get to improving the squad and getting into the transfer market - the thought of Ayre controlling our transfers horrifies me. Whoever they appoint should be given a fair crack no matter who it is- but if it all goes to hell (like Woy) they better be ready for some quality backlash......

Was it true that Rogers didn't want to talk to us initially because he felt like he shouldn't have to interview or something? If thats the case an ego like that could derail the entire system
-
Agree - My concern is that with the type of system they are trying to implement in such an instantaneous fashion relies on a considerable amount of common ground between the appointments in their position. People change and if all position don't change together you end up getting stuck with the whole Rick parry benitez situation where transfers are not what the manager wanted or manager is not getting what he wanted etc. It requires a hell of a lot of coordination and cooperation and I'm not sure if English football is the most harmonious atmosphere for that to function. If they get the appointments wrong (becuase it is being done artificially from scratch) you can be set back 1, 2 or even 3 years trying to get a combination that works and even then as I said people change and you end up having to do it all over again.

In England, Downing and Carroll were big name English players. Both in England Squad.
-
The entire pursuit of managers since Kenny has gone has been underlines with the whole "Bang for your buck", look at this thread even? Talking about performance to spend figures and stats. I am simply saying that I doubt the owners are looking to throw out big sums on big name players again
-
ha ha I was over exaggerating but my point is that we wouldn't be in for the likes of Hazard
-
Its the business model they bring to the game - try to run them like baseball and NFL clubs and baulk when there are no salary caps/drafts Need owners with money and who just wanna win and use the club as their hobby or passion 1. Apparently we have a lot less to spend 2. net spend ~28 mill Hazard would cost 30 alone - Be realistic - there is very little evidence to suggest we will be signing anymore players 20 mill+ specially with the choice of managers being touted to get the job
-
I don't think under FSG we are in the transfer leagues of the the hazards of the world....try free transfer Heskey

Young manager required allowing DoF to deal with transfers.....New application Received

He was a very good player

Manchester United are succeeding in SPITE of their owners - that club is in a horrendous amount of debt and is in a unsustainable situation They are lucky because their success has come in recent years when the money involved in football has been exponentially larger as such they built a considerable financial base before the Glaziers took control The problem with us is that we succeeded alot but when football was not the commercial big business that it has been in the past 20 years. PLUS as much as I hate to say it they had Ferguson and stuck with him the whole time Martinez and Rogers are no Ferguson...... Really? You have no problem with something Ridiculous as a company containing a countries name mind you Tattooed across the stadium ... if we are gonna sell the stadiums name the least we can do is get something with a little class... at least a company from England.... The current owners are yet to do enough to be considered in the same league and G+H and Glaziers but appointing a manager like Martinez is no way to endear yourselves to the fan base

he was just a f***ing moron
-
Carroll is going to be a beast next season - I recon hes gonna set these Euros alight
-
Very true ---- I think he was saying If you look at the track record of American owners in the premier league in recent times it is certainly not great/good/average/below par though, its been terrible I think the straw that breaks the camels back would be if it becomes Air China Anfield as has been mooted -- actually selling the soul of the club Agree with the Martinez thing - hes just flat out not the manager for us - surely he would have to be looking at all the supporter opinions and what happened to fkn Woy in making his decision
-
Strip down firesale?
-
Fair enough but my argument is that 1, He is relatively untested at a big club 2, there is a lot of managerial talent on the current market who are tested and have succeeded 3, because there is so much talent on the market this seems like a bit of a cop out going for a fairly untested manager I just recon there has to be a step between Wigan and Liverpool
-
I have seen your posts your very pro-martinez thats fine.....But I know a lot of liverpool supporters who have said it, you just have to look at the similarities between the appointments It genuinely worries me that there are supports that are seriously happy with him as an appointment when there is so much talent on the market - it is quite rare that there is this much talent on the market at one time.....I will support not matter who gets the job but I fear its the wrong signal to send.

Welease Wobewto?
-
I think im gonna be sick It is very different spotting young players and integrating them into a team that is struggling for survival. Everyone is scared that this will end up being another Woy. A very real fear.
-
Resigned to getting s*** kicker martinez?
-
Class A f***heads this lot --- seriously - okay they can release Pato so we pick him up on a free
-
True - but Soccernet is usually a fairly decent source - they don't usually just print others made up stories or make them up themselves. Much better than Goal.com.

Word is we are back in for Guardiola after his announcement that he would consider managing a new side in the summer - he seems like the perfect fit for the americans because he fits into their plan with the whole DoF transfer control issue - I really really hope we get him Especially when compared to Martinez.... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1079225/liverpool-to-renew-interest-in-outgoing-barca-boss-pep-guardiola?cc=3436
