  1. Put a challenge in you fannies!!!!
  2. Speo is having a stinker, too. Moyes knows that he needs time on the ball and they're getting Falafel to steam into him every time.
  3. Preferably all of them. And Enrique, too. And Shelvey. And Litmanen.
  4. Three people should have been nowhere near the pitch today: Carra (making us sit 15-20 yards too deep), Downing (not taking any responsibility) and Henderson (not doing anything). If we have Enrique/Aurelio, Maxi and Bellamy (fitness permitting) on the pitch, we'd be coasting it against this pub team. Gerrard is having a poor match as the entire midfield is far, far too deep.
  5. I think the poems will kill the internet.
  6. Comolli probably suggested Benson & Hedges.
  7. Thinking about it more, FSG must've noticed how the FA hold us in utter contempt. Dein has the political influence, savvy and universal respect within the game to transform that trend. Plus, he's s*** hot when it comes to transfer negotiations... which is a bonus.
  8. Dein as CEO running the show, Ayre refocussing on the commercial aspects and Kenny (or new manager) working closely with Dein.
  9. Yeah, Carr has done an absolutely superb job at Newcastle. There seems to be a very, very clear strategy; both in terms of the financial side of things and also the profile of players they look to bring in. Similar to Arsenal when Dein was still there. Good shout re: Udinese. I think Dortmund are also good exponents.
  10. FFS, it's a sad, sad day for LFC when we have to look to Newcastle to show us how to do things properly.

    Maxi

I think he covers his full back much more effectively than Downing, for example. Stewart will chase back early on in the game and do a flashy slide tackle to win the ball, then the bugger will not be seen tracking back to great effect for the rest of the match.
  12. There was no written agreement, or even gentlemans' agreement to build a new stadium or redevelop Anfield. LFC has a greater debt burden than previously disclosed/understood (i.e. it's not just the usual operating debt).
  13. Downing's doing the opposite of what our management team are doing, atm. They do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. He does one good thing early doors (like beating their RB all ends up in the first few mins to set up Kuyt) and then he thinks, 'Okay, that worked, better not try that again'.
  14. • Ball was over the line. Goal not given. • Hand ball in the box when Luis tries to cross it, clean pen. Not given. • Foul on Suarez in the box, clear pen. Not given. • Hand ball when Kuyt tries to get the ball, clear pen. Not given. • Suarez booked for having someone stamp on his foot • Flanno clobbered, nothing given. • Agger tripped their player in the box - was a pen. Not given

    Kenny

The biggest problem is, rather than supplementing a top notch first eleven with mid table backup players, our team has revolved around these mid table players; hence becoming a mid table team. The tactical naivety obviously exacerbates the problem, but if your players aren't good enough, they're not good enough. I remember when Houghton was asked, "What's the secret behind that great 80's team you played in?". HIs answer was, "There is no secret, we had 11 of the best players in the country playing week in, week out".

See epieur's point above re: midfielders having to drop back to collect the ball. This in turn leaves Luis isolated who also has to drop back to receive it. I take your point about having a central striker occupying the CB's allowing Suarez to wreak havoc, but I just don't think Carroll is that man.

That's also an option, but I personally don't rate Carroll at all.

If Luis doesn't have to bust agut trying to create everything himself, I think he'd be more clinical. Stevie playing higher up the pitch is always a threat, Bellamy will get you a goal and so will Maxi. In fact, Agger for Carra automatically means that the entire team plays 20 yards closer to the oppo goal.

We have too many naive players. Ideally, you'd have intelligent players all over the pitch, but you can get away with having attacking players who play instinctively and defenders who do the basics, but if you don't have midfielders (particularly central midfielders) with game intelligence and tactical acumen, it'll kill you.
