Yup and he was possibly a bit miffed about being left out of the Champions' League squad. Yes, I remember reading lots of comments similar to the ones EH mentioned.

So was Marcus Babbel, Did Hamman, Ballack. So is Robben, Ribery, Lahm, Pig-Climber etc. Sami is still a fantastic player and despite 3 or 4 below par performances, he's had an excellent season so far. I bet we forked out more on the Greek (who I really like, btw) in terms of transfer fee and wages than we would've invested in keeping Sami.

I was listening to the Stuart Hall thing on 5 Live yesterday and the following snippet from Shanks really resonated: "Some managers have big dossiers about the opposition and frighten their own players.
