What about Segura or Borrell?
-
If the owners have learned anything from the past year, it's the fact that there needs to be a top-class, credible individual running the club over here; someone who has the unequivocal trust of JWH & TW. Ian Ayre made a reasonable fist of the Commercial job but IMHO appointing him as MD seems to have been an appointment out of expediency and not good judgement.
-
A very sad day for all those who love the club. Kenny came in during our darkest period and restored our faith. He will continue to be a legend and will always be the King.
-
This was Ayre's responsibility to manage and unfortunately he wasn't up to the task.

Down Memory Lane Double Agents

Always best to buy first and then sell. If we have 50m then all the prices will go up and we'll end up with 30m value, IMHO.

I voted no. We let him go when we're ready...............and no more bouncing!!

As we now face what we thought was the unthinkable, what do think the club should do?

You do realise, SAF's taking the proverbial, right?

Whilst I agree with RP that this action appears measured and not in keeping with the "he's got three games to save his job" media mentality, what impresses me most is that NESV have taken time to listen to both balanced and vehement protest and simply allowed the evidence to present itself and then act accordingly. Our press have now become dangerous in anticipating headlines and in many case printing them before they happen and therefore isn't it great to read "exclusive" stories from yesterday which said Hodgson would be in charge at OT because Kenny was on holiday? I long for the days, just as in the past, where I didn't believe it was necessary for me to question the actions of the club because I believed we were managed by people of principal and could be trusted to represent the "Liverpool Way". I hope and I am optimistic that those days are returning now; JH, please don't prove me wrong, back Kenny with what he needs in the next month and beyond. P.S. Oh and please get rid of that destructive idiot Purslow.

Kenny's presence even as a Caretaker will create such a "feel good factor" with the fans that this should instantly lift the team. He is also smart enough to involve the right coaching staff to support him.

"In April 2003, after West Ham manager Glenn Roeder collapsed due to a brain tumour, Brooking, having long been on the board of West Ham, briefly took over as caretaker manager. The club were fighting relegation from the Premiership, and went down despite a late rally under Brooking, albeit with a record number of points (42) for a relegated team. After the first three games of the 2003/2004 season, Roeder was sacked and Brooking was again installed as caretaker manager. He spent a successful month in charge of the team before being replaced by Alan Pardew. Brooking was a popular choice as manager at Upton Park by the fans but he had earlier decided management was too much pressure and will hence be forever known as the "best manager West Ham never had".

I think it is in the interests of NESV to engage more closely with Kenny on the current status of their plans. He is smart & committed enough to realise the need to rebuild a management structure, a la Boot Room and therefore I suspect he will understand the significance of his role in firstly taking over from Hodgson and then working towards the appointment of a younger team with the talent to take us forward.

Kenny Dalglish should be appointed LFC Manager with immediate effect. Please vote here

This is a place for people to "lack respect", except for each other; better to say what’s on your mind and discuss it with other fans, otherwise what's the point? Roy Hodgson's lost the respect of the fans, that's a given; but Gerrard is apparently our "talisman" and supposedly its times like these where we need to turn to him for deliverance. Unless he has become entirely detached then he must surely know how the fans feel about the manager and wouldn't we like to think he would be saying something? After all, he apparently wasn't short of a few words before Houllier was sacked and as somebody else said on here earlier, he was quick to show his feelings last season. It still staggers me that some fans on here and elsewhere found it acceptable to turn on Rafa at about this time, despite his success the previous season. The difference between now and then is that Rafa had earned respect, he was handling what is now described as "a difficult situation “for at least 2 years and he was of a quality which gave many the confidence that he could turn our situation around, given the support required. Despite this, some people still seem to cling on to their positions and whilst equally criticising the current manager, they don't regard the return of Rafa Benitez as a viable option. Does his record not suggest his capabilities to deal with this situation or is there something credible which suggests he has lost his talents in the space of a year?

So our future depends on Comoli? If that's the case then isn't it about time he stepped forward? I can appreciate his presence in terms of new player acquisitions but he isn't a coach or a manager. I tend to believe that Rafa saw the incompetence in H&G & Purslow and felt the only way to maintain some basic sense of progress was to use his strength of position and establish a form of control over affairs. However it became painfully obvious that he never had the opportunity to exert that influence, however criticised for it he was ironically by the media and his detractors.

I voted in favour of Rafa returning, on the basis that he is is undoubtedly experienced, understands our values and most importantly is available. I subscribe to the view that replacing Hodgson has to be the main priority and what concerns me is that as we move closer to next Saturday, there is every chance that he will be the influence over signings during January, let alone continue dragging us further towards mediocrity & ridicule. Does anyone here seriously believe we would be in a worse position with Rafa as our manager and do you see a long queue of top quality alternative replacements at the door?

When the chant, "Justice for the 96" was sung by the Kop for a full 20 minutes into the game, it had a meaningful impact and was respected and not condemned by observers. There is NO COMPARISON between this and protests against the manager but a similar approach, chanting the names of previous managers from Shankly through to Benitez, may have a similar reception.
