The G14 are threatening to break away from UEFA and set up their own European tournament in opposition to the Champions League.

Here

And Here

The continuing refusal to allow Chelsea membership is obviously begining to worry Mourinho and Abramovich. If you can't compete with his money just take the ball elsewhere.

Also, why are they still called the G14 when there's 18 of them?

Mind you, love the fact Chelsea are still not amongst them. Poor old Kenyon can't eat at the big table anymore :D

Was a crying shame they never won Pop Idol.

Chelsea would inevitably be invited to join any such breakaway league, sadly. With their buying power, they will always attract top players - the G14 will want them, to make their product more exciting

on the plus side, a Uefa spokesman says "it will also mean the end of national teams"

I hate the G14. Who the f*ck do they think they are. They're such f*cking d!cks.

They're a cancer in football.

the alternative, uefa and fifa, is hardly much better though is it?

was only a matter of time until the g14 started tossing its orb about. surprised it's taken this long tbh.

If it does happen, do UEFA have the power to 'pressurise' the FA to stop us from playing in the Premiership?

This is good news! The G14 are looking out for US. They are our friends and partners. UEFA and FIFA have us tied down to stupid rules and regulations that is ruining football. Diving, play acting, general cheating and racism is tolerated. We've been victims ourselves just recently of some of these stupid rules, when that c*** Bennet sent off Xabi and refused to overturn his decision - something that is supported by FIFA.

The sooner we rid ourselves of Blatter and these poxy beuracrats, the better off ALL of football will be.

That's what Chelsea think too...

Trust me, the G14 go alone and form a "super league" then they'll want to come back to there respective domestic leagues quicker than we will be wanting to join you lot.

It would be all grand and exciting at first, maybe for the first 2 seasons or so then the clubs won't be happy at being a mid table side in the league, they'll feel superior to whom? Liverpool will be a mid table side in it, what will the goal be for at the end of each season?

Will the G14 (18) have it's own Cup? What will say 2nd place or 3rd or 4th achieve? Nothing, you won't qualify for Europe because you are it, you won't have the "romance" of the cup because you don't represent England and therefore can't compete in it, remember you now represent the G14.

Will the G14 therefore have it's own governing body? Make it's own rules? Supply it's own refs, linesman, etc. How is the G14 funded? If they do breakaway then won't they have to pay for there own league? So you'd be paying for your own league, with no relegation, no European competition. What if a team runs away with the league and have it wrapped up by mid March/April, what will the other clubs do? They have nothing to compete for.

The G14 is the biggest pile of b******s in football.

Wasn't it orginally formed to force UEFA into making the European Cup a league thing ?

I'm against the g14 - it should be about competitiveness and not a walled garden.

It's anti-competitive is they want to set up a league solely with those members competing.

I'd rather live in a world where you have the likes of Preston and Blackpool once being giants than it always being the same old same old.

FFS we wouldn't have had so many laughs at the blueshyte this year if we followed the G14 line.

That said, I like the fact that the chavs aint in it - but they can hardly argue on the grounds of the anti-competitive

Try reading the article, idiot. The G14 teams do NOT want to leave their domestic leagues and form a Euro league consisting of the 18 of them, they just want to run the elite European tournament (i.e. the Champions league) on their own terms, and not UEFAs. Seems reasonable to me since these teams are after all the most prominent in all of Europe, they should have more of a say in how the tournament should be run.

Without them, the CL would be a pile of s****, consisting of the 'ambitious' but crap clubs like Spurs, and your shower.

UEFA still makes too much money out of the CL when it should be going to the clubs that make the competition what it is.

They want to be guranteed qualification, so what does that mean to the Premiership?

The G14 is aload of b******s, if you want guranteed qualification f*** off and make your own league, we don't want you, f*** off go on.

There's nothing wrong with the biggest clubs having a permanent presence in Europe's elite tournament. That doesn't mean lesser clubs won't be invited to participate in the tournament , if they merit it, i.e. finish high enough in the league.

Your making no sense.

How do the G14 merit there inclusion in the competition then? Why should one of the G14 be guranteed qualification every year, no matter of where they finish? Yet clubs like ourselves, Spurs etc trying to push foward every year and we can't be guranteed qualification, whether we finished in the top 4 or not.

It's a load of b******s, there should be no G14, clubs should be given there own chance to make history we should not be told our future.

I hate the f***ing G14 and all that goes with it.

Now since none of us are privy to what this alleged 'leaked document' states, we can make a few educated guesses about the G14 intentions. It's reasonable to assume they want a much expanded version of the 'Champions' League, with the 18 members of the G14 having a guarenteed place every season. I would guess that non-members will still be allowed to take part in the tournament assuming they finish in the allocated positions.

So for example, Liverpool, Arsenal, ManUre will be given automatic entry to this new tournamentm and assuming they don't finish in the top 3 qualifying places, the teams that DO finish in those positions will also be admitted to take part. So we could end up having 6 or 7 teams in the new version of the CL. Isn't that good news for all cocnerned? I think so.

a)e.g. the Premiership?

c)or indeed the Football League itself?

a) And look how disenchanted everyone is with football now

c) That's taking it to extremes

No, it's terrible news.

Teams should merit there status in Europes top competition by where they finish in the league, not by how wealthy a club is.

If the G14 are so good then they should be able to qualify for the tournament every year, why should we all have to fight for our place whilst you lot need not worry?

It's a farce and represents everything that is wrong with football, the rich getting richer the poor getting poorer, football is eating itself.

Re: rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. I'm afraid that's the way it goes, such is the capitalist world we live in. Don't like it, then move to Cuba.

If the G14 do start their own tournament, it'll mean all the money going to the clubs and not to UEFAs coffers. That's good news for all the participants in the new would-be tournament, not just those given a divine right to enter. More money for everyone.

Besides, if you look at this history of the CL, it's always the same bunch of top clubs that take part. How often do you see the likes of Everton in the CL? Not often. So really there isn't going to be too much change, the usual suspects will be there as they are almost every season, and in addition other clubs who don't normally take part would probably be given an opportunity to play.

The G14 are the very clubs that make all the money UEFA gets from the CL, it's only fair that they have a greater say in where it ends up going, i.e. to themselves!
