honourablegeorge Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 As in the question - would you take fourth, or do you think there's more to be had for us this season?
épieur Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I ended up voting yes. I can glimpse a title challenge, but OTOH there are plenty of teams breathing down our neck for 4th too. I'd take it and congratulate Rodgers on a fine achievement.
Romario Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 No. I don't want to be pragmatic about football right now. I want to enjoy the journey and see where it takes us. Every game right now is relevant and weighted with excitement and anticipation and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's where, as a fan I want to be and haven't been for a long long time bar great cup runs, and the very very odd challenge.
Cunny Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 yesjust because we could just as easy finish 7th/8th as finish 1st
Hassony Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 no I'd take third as that guarantees entry into the group stages
meepins Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I had us for first before the season started because we have the best player in the league, Steven Gerrard and no european football midweek. We're now top of the league and will have the opportunity to do what should have been done in the summer and properly strengthen. Settle for fourth now? No.
surf Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 at the start of the season i'd have bitten someones hand off, now..... no.
PhilM Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Before the season started, definitely. Now, nope. After the City and Chelsea games, maybe.
Knox_Harrington Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 1st and 1st only. that is what we are after.THIS MAN.
Sion Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 yesjust because we could just as easy finish 7th/8th as finish 1st Yep. All it would take is a bad few games and we're looking behind. As much as I love the idea of us being in the title race by April I think City are just too strong, so if offered I wouldn't risk 4th on the hope City would stumble
David Hodgson Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 THIS MAN. Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. Yep. All it would take is a bad few games and we're looking behind. As much as I love the idea of us being in the title race by April I think City are just too strong, so if offered I wouldn't risk 4th on the hope City would stumble We could get two creditable draw at City and Chelsea and still find ourselves 5th on the morning of the 30th December.
Bigal Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. You've changed man. You've changed.
surf Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. We could get two creditable draw at City and Chelsea and still find ourselves 5th on the morning of the 30th December. if we got 2 draws we're in a great position to win the thing, even from 5th
Murphman Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. We could get two creditable draw at City and Chelsea and still find ourselves 5th on the morning of the 30th December. BAN HODGSON!! Wherever we are on 30th December we will be serious challengers for the title, let's get it on!
D.Boon Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 4th can kiss my hole we have a title to win.
Swan Red Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. We could get two creditable draw at City and Chelsea and still find ourselves 5th on the morning of the 30th December. Points from top is a greater indicator than position when it's so tight at the top
Woodsyla Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah yeah. Easy to play the big tiger when we're top of the tree. Let's pose this question again on the 30th of December. I'd take 4th in a heart beat. We could get two creditable draw at City and Chelsea and still find ourselves 5th on the morning of the 30th December. If Arsenal win tonight they are top, lose they are 4th and Everton would be 2pts off top in 5th. I'd take 4th now, mainly because we need it to have any chance of keeping Suarez.
