Guest Barcamania Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I think he's superb talent and he has a bright future. But I think he's VERY overhyped. Some people were talking nonsense like LFC has the best midfield in Europe(remember that? It was here or in redandwhitekop).First of all, I think you can never say that he's better than Alonso. His form is bad right now, but when he plays, you have balls at least, you control the game.Momo is energetic, too energetic in fact. He can't keep the ball, he passes it ASAP and his passing is poor. There're tons of players like that, they run a lot, they work alot. But passing is very important for midfielder. Brazil never had such monster, but they are always brilliant.Nowadays people want to see him every week. Well, manager choes the best formation and players, but supporters can affect his desicions. I think Momo needs to improve his game and he can't be compared to Alonso yet. I'm very sorry that Barca or Milan are in different groups. I'm sure they would've shown if Liverpool midfield is best or not.PS I'm not criticising anyone. I'm just surprised that there're alot of people who love Momo and criticise Alonso for everything.
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Are you on the gear mate?
fred milne Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I thought he had a good first half yesterday - his passing was crisp and accurate. He seemed to lose his way in the second half.
Guest AnfieldGrass Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Are you on the gear mate? Whatever he's on, its definitely sent him to the land of the clueless. I thought he had a good first half yesterday - his passing was crisp and accurate. He seemed to lose his way in the second half. Second half was poorer all round. Anyway, contributing to this post will only encourage the foolishness of it. Im outta here.
Stevie H Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 i love this guy. next week: 'is jamie carragher a poof?'
Hodgson for Chelsea Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 My favourite player behind Carra. I can give him no higher praise.
McBain Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 He's a very good player already. His passing is the weakest area of his game though. Improve that and he'll be as good as you can hope for

Cobs Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Yes you can. Make him your favourite. seems obvious when you think about it
psl Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I believe the correct phrase is 'Momo is boss'.
Guest Sabre Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I don't think his passing is that bad to be honest. I'm often surprised when he pulls off a neat little pass through to someone and his dribbling and ball retention is very good. He needs more movement around him though. I thought PSV were very clever in possession and kept it well, trying their best to bypass our players rather than take them on, but Momo kept them on the back foot and we weren't unduly threatened.
Coyler Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Passing has improved astronomically. Any team would kill for a Momo, there ain't nobody at the moment does what he does at the moment, and in a few years he'll be doing thangs no man ever seen.

Alonso, Gerrard and Sissoko are all exceptional talents. Pennent and Gonzales will - once they become accustomed to playing inthe team - also be recognised as such

Momos passes dont always pay off but the intention is always imaginative and his vision is great. Once the execution rate improves his game will be immense.
Huyton_Red Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 (edited) How dare you question momo sissoko, living legend and footballing machine F'ck me, he is the best young midfielder in the world, 21 he is. His passing is ok, but his all round game is awesome. If Liverpool played gerrard, alonso and sissoko as a three they would dominate any midfield in Europe Edited September 13, 2006 by Huyton_Sissoko

jimmylibel Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Think his passing was fine for the most part this season but on a few occasions last night he didn't put much thought or (seemingly) effort into some of his short passes - they were just a little bit sloppy. That said he's come on leaps and bounds in his general passing since this time last year.
yellow jumper Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 he's the best athlete in any midfield in europe. actually think he's under-rated with the ball at his feet, although his long-passing, reading of the game and decision making need plenty of work. alonso's the best long-passer in europe. he's just a little out of touch right now. don't think the zenden as a sitting midfielder experiment is working particularily. he's certainly no hamman. bit unfair on him too. there were times yesterday when both sissoko and zenden got caught in a kind of no man's land and we were left with kone, farfan et al with twenty yards of space and bearing down on our defence. don't really care about barcelona. but would say that in terms of running power they're a distant second to our lot. there were occasions in the champions league last season, notably in the final, before lehmann's sending off, when arsenal showed that barca's midfield can be both out-passed and out-fought.
Huyton_Red Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Except Everton's? I meant in the middle
Coyler Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 His name is first on the teamsheet now Noticed how he never gets 'rested' from the midfieldHe's probably like a shark; I honestly would fear for the chap's health without at least one game a week.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 He is slightly overrated imo. Immense talent no doubt but I think the very visible postive contribution he always has in terms of workrate and tackling overshadows that he is too often not all that in terms of passing and vision.

Guz Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Of course he's over hyped because we overhype every player in the team (cept Diao). Doesnt mean he cant pass the ball or whatever but just because he's put in several outstanding performances before doesn't mean he does it every game. He's an excellent young player with lots to learn still. It's like when people claim Fabregas is suddenly the best midfielder in the country. He's not, but for his age and experience he's a f***ing brilliant player and the same applies to Momo
