Stevie H Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 "Liverpool midfielder Salif Diao is surplus to requirements and is likely to return to France. (Independent) " we're going to have to pay someone to take him the f*** away.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 he just needs a run of games drop Alonso for the first 6 matches or so, and let Salif prove himself
matty Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 we're going to have to pay someone to take him the f*** away.
Kahnee Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Doesn't say what he's going to do in France. Run a croissant stand?
Mono Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 At least if he goes to France Figaro won't be worried about his own job security
Stevie H Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 Doesn't say what he's going to do in France. he's going to be a s***-kicking guard at sangatte. when is his contract out? dunno. can't be long can it?
Leo No.8 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Doesn't say what he's going to do in France. Donkey rides on a beach in the South of France. Needs to do some work in the gym on his back to prepare for the strain of petit enfants...
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 It's not his fault he's shyte we've been trying desperately trying to get rid for 18 months now. Surely someone must be willing to take him on.
Greenoak Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) He was signed by former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier from French club Sedan for £3.4 million after the 2002 World Cup. Diao's move to Liverpool was supposed to have been completed in December 2002, but was brought forward after Steven Gerrard became injured in pre-season. I think he got a 5 year contract, which means that he may have cost the club well over 8.5 million quid. There is no way he will have been paid less than 20k a week as he was on a big transfer, and salaries were crazy at the time. Nice work Gerard. he has played 61 games for us so on the basis of 10 mill cost that works out at about 140k for each game he played for us. I wonder how much of his salary that pompey ( 11 games ) and Brum ( 2 games) paid!! Edited May 3, 2006 by Greenoak

Rory Fitzgerald Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I heard Lyon are interested in him as they see him as the perfect replacement for Essien (sh*t in boots)
Guest Scot Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yeah, those other numpties he signed were awful - Hyypia, Hamann, Finnan, Dudek, Baros, Kewell etc.... Signing some good players doesn't mean Diao wasn't a massive, massive error.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Signing some good players doesn't mean Diao wasn't a massive, massive error. which all managers have. you judge a manager on his succeses, not his failures.
Rushian Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 which all managers have. you judge a manager on his succeses, not his failures. you judge a manager on both
Guest Scot Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 which all managers have. you judge a manager on his succeses, not his failures. Or on the balance. That summer of crap signings cost Houllier his job.
Greenoak Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Just ignoring SD for a moment, GH signed so much crap for massive money it was not true. The only big money transfer that has worked is Didi. I think he only bought Heskey and Jari just to piss off Robbie, who he tried to sell to Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Huyton_Red Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yeah, those other numpties he signed were awful - Hyypia, Hamann, Finnan, Dudek, Baros, Kewell etc.... Hyppia and Finnan were the only unqualified successes, not bad eh - two out of 30 and £126 million. Kewell still hasnt justified his price tag yet, due to injury, granted, but never the less he still has not done it for us consistently yet. The most disastarous transfer dealings in the history of LFC happened during the previous regime, Diao is just one of many, Ciise and Diouf are the worse - f'ckin criminal waste of money
cymrococh Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Kewell still hasnt justified his price tag yet, due to injury, granted, but never the less he still has not done it for us consistently yet. £5million? Get over yourself.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 you judge a manager on both Don't really care how many failures a manager waddles through in the transfer market as long as he can balance the transfer budget and bring success to the table.
monkey puzzle Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yeah, those other numpties he signed were awful - Hyypia, Hamann, Finnan, Dudek, Baros, Kewell etc.... I see what you're saying but I'll see your Hyypia, Hamann, Finnan, Dudek, Baros, Kewell and raise you a Diouf, Diao, Heskey, Cisse, Cheyrou, Vignal and Ferri
