Losing the European Cup
1978 - We lost our grip on the European Cup, being held to a goalless draw at Anfield by League champions Nottingham Forest, with ex-red Larry Lloyd dominant in the visitors’ defence. That was enough to take them through, as they had won the first leg 2-0 at the City Ground. Forest went on to claim the trophy that season, and then retain it the following year.
1924 - We also faced them in a First Division fixture at Anfield. Archie Rawlings struck his first two reds goals as we won 3-0, with Danny Shone also on the scoresheet.
