Fulham v Liverpool (31/10/2009) - Meet the Referee
Thursday, 29th October 2009
Lee Mason of Bolton will referee our Premiership clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Lee is a relatively new referee to the Premiership having been promoted to the Select Group in 2006. This will only be the seventh Liverpool game of his career and we remain unbeaten in the previous six. However four of those games ended goalless.

This will be the second time this season our paths have crossed after he refereed our 4-0 home win against Burnley last month. It will be his second time at Craven Cottage this year after he refereed Fulham's 1-0 win against Stoke City back in April.

Lee gained a degree at Liverpool Hope University, now known as Liverpool John Moores University, where he studied between 1990 and 1993. He played regularly for the university football team, in fact his younger brother Andy is a former professional footballer who played for Hull City, Chesterfield and Macclesfield before dropping down to non-league.

His first Premiership outing was on 4th February when a Luke Moore hat-trick helped Aston Villa to a 4-0 win at Middlesbrough.
Lee ended last season by refereeing both legs of the FA Youth Cup Final as Arsenal were too strong for us and won both games 4-1 and 2-1.

His assistants on Saturday are Michael Murphy and Simon Long with Steve Bennett as the fourth official for the third this season.

Only two memorable matches involving Liverpool and Lee Mason so far.
23rd Feb 2008 - Torres hits a hat-trick during a 3-2 home win against Middlesbrough.
12th Sept 2009 - Benayoun hits a hat-trick and Degen makes his long awaited Premiership debut in a 4-0 home win against Burnley.
